I have a new arty mission in life: to try making one of these lamps. They are made from dried gourds which are painted with intricate patterns. Tiny holes are drilled in them and filled with colored beads. Somehow the electrical parts of a lamp are put in there and -- voila! GourdLamp. I just ordered two gourds on eBay. Weird.
... under this amazing quilt. I like the more modern-looking pattern. I wonder if Andrew's mom could make one for us? Maybe in green, blue, and purple (our wedding colors)! Instructions and pattern on the purl bee.
I love the calm colors of this bedroom. I think it would go nicely with the maps (below). Via Apartment Therapy.

My birthday present from Andrew arrived! He got me three really awesome maps! The world map is from National Geographic and is huge -- something like 6 feet wide. The two smaller maps of Italy and Rome are actually pieces of wrapping paper. Maybe our future guest bedroom will have to be The Map Room.
